Come Sail Away

It amazes me how bad people are feeling. Every day I hear another recession related incident of violence and abuse. How the former haves are lamenting their fall from prosperity and the have nots are angry at the squandering of their promised future. People are living with the fear that tomorrow may bring an end to their bubble and turn them into that growing segment of potential soup line candidates.

All of this fear and panic is fueling an ever growing level of fear and panic. The stock market has erased all of the gains of the last 12 years. My house is worth less than I owe on it and I have been making payments for 5 years. I look at all of the new car deals and cannot see replacing my 6 year vehicle in the near future. Is it possible that things can get any better?

My roof does not leak. I have my health and my family is enjoying three hots and a cot. It is easy to have a good outlook when you are employed and not fearful for your health and livelihood. Instead of worrying about what tomorrow will bring, escape to tomorrow. Focusing on today and all of the garbage that seems to be the only topic our media can convey will only bring you down.

I thought that they were angels but much to my surprise
I climbed aboard their star ship and headed for the skies.

Can You Make A Silk Purse? Part 2

I hate to parrot the radio pundits but the local afternoon guy on WSPD had an interesting caller this week. It was call in with your own version of a stimulus package. The caller started out giving population statistics. The US has about 300 million people. If you boiled it down to adults, not in jail you have about 200 million. If you then looked at households, it would be about 100 million. If you gave household each of them $1,000,000 with certain stipulations it would cost $100 trillion. So the stimulus package is $750,000,000 which is considerably less than the caller's number. Dividing it up would amount to only about $7500 per family. Nothing to sneeze at but not enough to dent a mortgage or buy a car.

What the radio host told the caller is that there were two serious flaws with his theory. Beside the obvious magnitude of the population versus available dollars, the host told him that since he was using logic to solve the problem, it would not work. Since our elected officials do not understand fixing something without throwing massive amounts of money at it, distributing those funds to those who could stimulate the economy would not make sense. We need to throw the money down the rat hole for our elected officials to feel that warm glow of success.

The second reason the host indicated it would not work is that holding the purse strings is how our elected officials control us. Since they have the ability to legally steal from us in almost any fashion they can dream up, giving us back the money to allow us to stimulate the economy removes that power from their hands. It eliminates our need for them which is in their mind the only reason we exist. We are there for them to take care of and provide for. It is not about doing what is right for us. It is about fulfilling their purpose for living. We have created the ability to elect, at least in their minds, gods (with a little g) to provide us with a sense of purpose; to keep them in office so they can assert more control over our misdirected lives. It is about ego and megalomania. And that makes them larger than life? (walking cheerfully out of obscurity into a dream...)

Can You Make A Silk Purse? Part 1

Friday, our nation capped a long series of failures by imposing the federal government onto American citizens to the tune of three quarters of a trillion dollars. It was a spending bill that will contribute little to its intended purpose which was to revive the current recession but will impose more government rules and regulations on our free citizens. It was Obama's first strike to turn us into the beast Ronald Reagan fought so hard to destroy, the Union of American Socialist Republics (UASR).

A stimulus bill would have been been aimed at creating opportunities for jobs, new technologies, lowering taxes and fostering a long term vision for a free and stable America. What we received was a cloak and dagger, closed door spending bill that is a platform for launching Soviet style control on an Obama adoring citizenship. Can anyone say Seig Heil? This was how Hitler took control of Germany and led that nation to rubble several years later.

When government controls every aspect of your life, you are no longer free. You are now a prisoner being forced to pay for your own incarceration. We will be forced to pay dearly to be locked into Obama's vision of the future. Higher taxes for us and our children will be the Messiah's legacy. This is so far from our Founding Father's limited federal government role. But as power collected in one spot, it tends to stay in the hands of the few. Absolute power corrupts...

It's Like A Cold

We are in the midst of a national if not world wide recession. If you were not aware of that, you must be working for the federal government or independently wealthy. The last time things were portrayed as this bad, we had a New York liberal with a knack for speaking well try to spend our country back to prosperity. FDR made the nation feel loved and taken care of with his fireside chats and public works programs. If you have managed to read any history of the Great Depression, you know that FDR failed to revive the country by throwing tax dollars at an economic issue. You cannot spend your way to prosperity. An economic downturn must run it's course with all the pain and suffering that goes with it.

It is just like the common cold that plagues us every winter. We run to the doctor and beg for shots and pills that will halt the coughing and stop the runny nose. But nothing cures the cold but time. The body will produce the antibodies that eventually kill the virus and the cold goes away on its own. All of the antibiotics do nothing but waste money and eventually create bigger issues as they create immune resistant bugs. Now we have something unexpected to deal with because we wanted instant gratification.

So here we have the porkzilla of spending bills passed by both houses and what will we get for it? We will be spending a trillion dollars on advancing the liberal cause in America and what will we have to show for it? A legacy that generations to come will have to deal with. It will all but bankrupt any chance our democracy has of being the shining light of freedom that we are envied for. If our government had our best interest at heart, they would let the disease run its course and we would come through it remembering the aches and pains and not wanting a repeat performance. But it is easier in the short term to try to avoid the pain instead of sacking up and letting the recession correct what man hath wrought.

That's What I Call Global Warming

Scientists have finally confirmed that global warming is in fact a real and actual event. Unfortunately for them it is not happening on our planet but one that was recently discovered orbiting a star near the Big Dipper. It has a real case of the global warming blues. It would make even Al Gore drool in it's magnificence.

This planet is 4 times the size of Jupiter and it heats up 1200 degrees in just 6 hours. You could bake a lot of bread in an oven that size. For those who are having problems with the size of Jupiter, you could pack all of the planets in the solar system into Jupiter two and a half times. This super heated gas giant is four times larger. The planet is usually only 980 degrees but rises to a toasty 2240 as it passes 10 times closer to our sun than Mercury does. Again for those who are astronomically challenged, Mercury is the closest planet to the sun.

So there you have it. The scientific community can finally sit back and gloat that global warming is indeed a reality. The media can use these facts to distort the real picture of what is happening to fit the delusional reality that they have come to embrace. What I love is that the tree hugging community is starting to be associated with the word kook instead of truth. Americans are finally starting to realize that it is a scam and not based on science. Help spread the word. Like the planet that really suffers from global warming, it is nothing but a giant ball of gas.

Obama's Web

Most Americans (at least those who paid any attention in school or go to see movies) know the story of Charlotte's Web. For those who don't, it is about a runt piglet that becomes the pet of a little girl. The piglet, Wilbur, is happy on the farm and makes all kind of friends in the process. You see, the animals can actually talk. I know, it is hard to believe that an animal can talk but for the sake of the story, try to picture it. So it comes time to butcher Wilbur, everyone tries to come up with some way to save him. Finally, a crafty spider named Charlotte spins a web with "Some Pig" written in it and the road to salvation begins. By the end of the book, Wilbur wins 1st prize at the county fair and Charlotte, having saved the once near death pig, dies. Before she dies, she has thousands of babies to carry on her legacy.

So we have the American economy that due to phenomenal mismanagement by Democrat controlled Freddie and Fannie Mac lending policies and the abuse of greedy Wall Street interests has spiraled into a full blown recession. Along comes Barack Obama, an eloquent speaker who spins his web for the American people. His first web spells out the words "CHANGE". Not an amazing word, but after 8 years of listening to George Bush butcher his English, he sounds like an angel. People begin to perk up as he gets their attention. His next word is "HOPE". Neither words have any real substance but with his opponent McCain being an old guy and his running mate being made the laughing stock by the media, it garners more Americans to his cause.

His next web was "VICTORY" after he vanquished his opponents and became the presumptive president. All during that time we heard everything about him but the brand of cigarette he smokes. He began making policy before he was even installed into office. And again the media fawned on his public image like bees to pollen. Now that we have him in office, he is pushing through one of the most destructive measures ever introduced by the monolithic self interest monopoly called Congress. His latest web spells "STIMULUS" but it looks amazingly like what a butchered Wilbur would look like; "PORK". The conservative interest have branded it porkulus and after hearing the sections explained does nothing but pump money into programs that have already wasted years of our tax payers dollars and have nothing to show. Nothing in the bill provides stimulus that will create any permanent improvement in the economy. Maybe his next web will be "EXCUSE".
