Failure Of Ronald Reagan

There was such a great feeling of hope and change when Americans saw the Berlin Wall fall. The Soviet bear was taking the last gasps of breath. Freedom and liberty were no longer the victim of a communistic tyranny. There was the sense that the future held unlimited promise and humanity would finally start growing towards it true potential. Instead we have squandered the opportunity and once again face the loss of liberty and freedom except we are now staring ourselves in the mirror.

The Berlin Wall was a symbol of everything that America knew was wrong with the world. It was put up to keep the nation of Germany separated and keep those who chose freedom from attaining that goal. They could see beyond the wall and dream of what freedom was like but never taste the fruit that comes being the master of your destiny. The loss of that symbol and the collapse of the Soviet Union has led America to find a new nemesis. Instead of growing and prospering, which has been the foundation of America since its inception, we have turned our gaze inward and turned on ourselves. America is the new global demon. Talk about cannibalism.

So Ronald Reagan's dream of a world where freedom and liberty are embraced by all has turned into a nightmare. The nation that led the world has let itself be fooled into believing that they are the bad guys. Our prosperity has caused those jealous of our nation to infiltrate with ideas that what we stand for is corrupt. They have poisoned the minds of a generation and are attempting to indoctrinate the minds of our children to hate America.

The very country that provides them the freedom to speak their minds, if they have their way, will become the embodiment of The Wall. The freedoms that we hold dear are being ripped from our grasp as our leaders ignore the very foundation that made this county great. As Obama demonstrates his desire to tear up the Constitution, I hear the echo of Ronald Reagan, "Mr. Gorbachev, tear down that wall."
